You can scale your objects to make it easier to build large rooms #

For example you can make a plane turn it into a cube and set the X Y X scale to 5x and have a large shape that you can use for a room. This can make building quicker as you don’t need to drag walls constantly and you can sub-divide existing faces to make doorframes.

Manipulating existing shapes #
You can go down the approach of taking a cube and moulding it into a room demonstrated in this one minute video below. You can also achieve the same result in 1 minute as shown in the previous video but this approach makes it more difficult to control your scene as all the walls and the floor exists as one single object.
